Myler Long Shank Combination Bit Mullen Triple Barrel Sweet Iron MB32-3, size 5.25. Good used condition, not the original curb strap. The MB 32-3 is an innovative Myler alternative to the traditional mullen. It has three barrels which turn the mouthpiece from the typical solid bar of a mullen into a flexible bar which allows the horse to elevate his tongue and swallow more easily. When the reins are engaged, the mouthpiece becomes a solid bar like a traditional mullen, but with an exaggerated curve.
This curved bar rotates across the bars and lips down on to the tongue, applying pressure across the entire surface of the tongue. The flexibility of the MB 32-3 makes it very forgiving and comforting when relaxed, but offers the rider control when engaged. Sweet iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.
Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars. Notes: Because the tongue pressure applied by the MB 32-3 is evenly distributed across the entire tongue, this mouthpiece is considered "stronger" than the MB 04. However, its flexibility makes it a forgiving mouthpiece that works well for horses who have suffered mouth trauma or damage, or horses that tend to go behind the bit. For a ported mullen style offering more tongue relief, see the MB 06 or MB 36. The long shank combination bit uses five different pressure points to disperse rein pressure. The mouthpiece can slide 1 before reaching the stop, where it will engage. The overall effect is to give the horse ample opportunity to respond to the rider's rein signals, plus disperse the rein pressure over multiple pressure points rather than just the tongue or bars. The long shank offers two rein positions: the large ring and the bottom ring.The standard noseband is flat leather with knotted cord on either side. The chin strap is synthetic to avoid stretching over time. Size: 7 1/2 overall length.
