Scarce Parker 180 Prototype Fountain Pen Floral Etched Boxed + Papers

Up for sale is scares, very rare PARKER 180 model fountain pen. This is a flighter (full metal) CT - chrome trim prototype, with delicate floral pattern deep etched into the surface of the barrel and cap. The pen is still in its original PARKER box with all papers attached.

There is a place for long cartridges on the back side of the box, see photos. This pen was made in ENGLAND dates back to the 1981 with the date code UE. The pen is very well preserved. It can fit as a valuable. Addition into any collection, and is a quality pen that will perfectly function. It has a The polished chrome clip is secured by a'stack of coins' cap stud, reminiscent of that of the Parker 75. The barrel end stud, also chromed, is slightly flared so that, when posted, the cap'clicks' on to the pen and prevents the cap coming into direct contact with the barrel thus preventing scratching. The Parker 180 was one of the most successful Parker pens launched in the late 1970, and technological response to fountain pen owners who had started bending nibs because they had got used to pressing harder on a ballpoint pen. So a pen with a super strong nib was designed - one which could write with one face as one thickness - and the other face (180ยบ around) with a different thickness.

There are several dozen variations and finishes on this pen including some limited editions. Remarkably, this pattern is one of the rarest I have seen, yet it somehow eludes collectors of its correct name and model, yet it was clearly made by Parker.

The 180 is unique pen, a breakthrough Parker made in the late 1970s, with the desire to make a multi-nib pen. The 180 is the embodiment of the ingenuity of the Parker company. The pen has a flat nib, and both sides of the nib has different finished tips; here in a B and F sides.

Simply by turning the pen 180 degrees in your hand, the nib size is changed. This is where the name "180" comes from, "180" degrees rotation in the hand. A remarkable way of writing. The user can simply choose what size he/she wants to use while writing and change the style and the thickness variation of the line in the same sentence.

The F size is great for precision or small typeface letter writing, such as writing in a pocket notebook, while the B size is great for more lean writing such as letters, invitations and similar. Mint condition, lightly barely used, condition is without wear or flaws, no usual age related signs / wear marks, in full perfect working and writing order. Fully inspected, cleaned, tested and ready to use. This is really a very rare pen because of few special issues: the engraving on barrel and cap, the stainless still nib instead the gold one on all other PARKER 180 models, this is the first time I meet this model with steel nib. Never seen same one during 2 decades of pens collecting, couldn't find this pattern even on PARKER catalogue. It's really special item for collectors. After a research I found that it was manufactured for only short time. The pen was serviced and ultrasonically cleaned, ready for your ink and many more years of enjoyable use. Parts/repair, poor, good, very good, excellent. Crisp barrel imprint, no typical traces of age and wear.
